A New Beginning and another PB

Moving House

It’s been two weeks since I last posted, mainly because I’ve moved house! Living in the city centre is pretty stressful and it’s taken a lot of energy out of me meaning I’ve had no time to train.

After a few long nights of unpacking boxes, I managed to finally squeeze in some runs during the week, whilst sorting my new flat.  The bikes are in and I’m looking forward to getting back on my training schedule. Not the most ideal start to my Road to 140!

Luckily for me my gym is two minutes away from my work, so I’ve managed to keep up the strength training I started a few weeks back.

Now I’m settled, I’m looking forward to the future. Living closer to work should give me more time to train and be focused for the new season, which has started with a bang over the weekend.

Meeting The New2Tri Team and Racing

I managed to get a last-minute spot in the Open 2 The Elements 10k race organised by my Tri team. This was a great opportunity for me to meet the guys who run the team and meet some of the members. I feel their experience and knowledge will be invaluable if I’m to complete my ultimate goals.

The race was in Gnosall, Staffordshire and was an out-and-back race, which was slightly hilly and had a very muddy path. I’ve not ran in the mud since I was a boy doing cross country, so it was a slight change to the system of roads. I liked it!

My aim before the race was to run to run a 45-minute race, especially since I ran a comfortable 22minute park run the day before. But my performance was so much better than this.

I felt good running and pushed it a little more than I thought I could.  After a really strong finish, with a 06:33 final mile and catching a few people, I somehow finished 14th out of 187. My time? 00:43:17, A NEW PB!!

That’s my third PB since being coached by Kit! I felt amazing, even more so that it was in the mud so there’s further improvements to come. It felt good being cheered on by my teammates, too, and I can’t wait for the next event.
